How to choose the right tyres for motorcycles, bicycles, ATVs or equipment
Sidewall size, terrain and riding style tell you exactly which tyre you need. Step-by-step guide with picks from Roataway.ro stock.
The right tyre isn’t always the most expensive — it’s the one that fits your vehicle, terrain and riding style. This guide walks you through reading sidewall size, choosing tread type and what we recommend from real Roataway.ro stock for motorcycles, bicycles, ATVs and equipment.

Step 1: Read the size on your current tyre
The safest starting point is the tyre fitted now. Size is on the sidewall; the new tyre must match:
- Motorcycle / scooter: e.g. 120/90-10 — width 120 mm, sidewall 90% of width, 10-inch rim. Load and speed indices too (e.g. 66M).
- Bicycle: e.g. 26x2.10 — 26-inch wheel, 2.10-inch width. ETRTO code in brackets (e.g. 54-559) is the most accurate match.
- ATV: e.g. 23x11-10 — 23-inch overall height, 11-inch width, 10-inch rim.
Step 2: Choose tread for terrain and use
Motorcycle tyres
For road and scooters choose water grooves and sticky compound on tarmac. For motocross and enduro you need tall, spaced knobs that self-clean in mud. At Roataway find Vee Rubber motorcycle tyres for All Season, Moto & Scooter, Motocross & Enduro and Pocket Bike.
Bicycle tyres
On tarmac, low rolling resistance (fine tread, higher pressure); on MTB trails, knobs and puncture-resistant casing. Vee Tire Co covers MTB & Trail, Urban & Trekking, BMX, Fat Bike and E-Bike — see all bicycle tyres in stock.
ATV tyres
For mixed use choose All-Road; for mud and rough terrain, deep-knob Off-Road; for speed on firm ground, Performance. Explore Vee Rubber ATV tyres — including models like VRM-260 “Venom” or VRM-400.
Equipment tyres
On agricultural and industrial machines, load capacity and traction matter — Agro bar treads grip soft soil and handle heavy loads. Available sizes in equipment tyres.
Step 3: Inner tube or tubeless?
- With tube (TT — Tube Type): classic, easy to fix anywhere. Match tube size to the tyre — see inner tubes in stock for bicycle, motorcycle, ATV and equipment.
- Tubeless (TL): no tube, runs cooler, punctures leak slowly not explosively. Needs a compatible rim and airtight mounting.
TT or Tubeless marking is on the sidewall and in every product title on Roataway.ro for quick choice.
Step 4: Check manufacture year and source
A “new” tyre stored for years in poor conditions loses properties. Buy from distributors with real turnover. Roataway.ro is an official Vee Rubber dealer in Romania — containers direct from the factory, so tyres reach you fresh, not aged on a shelf.

FAQ
Can I fit a wider tyre than the original?
Sometimes yes, within rim and clearance limits. A tyre that is too wide may rub frame or mudguard. Check manufacturer recommendations or ask us before ordering.
What do load and speed indices mean (e.g. 66M)?
The number is load index (maximum weight supported), the letter is speed index. The new tyre must have indices at least equal to those recommended for your vehicle.
Should I change tyres in pairs or only the worn one?
On motorcycles and ATVs it’s recommended to keep front/rear tread and wear similar. On bicycles you can replace only the worn tyre — usually the rear wears first.
